Tele-counselling Facilitator – Paediatric Oncology Nurse

Cuddles Foundation brings holistic nutritional counselling to children fighting cancer across India. As a Cuddles Nurse, you’ll get a chance to improve treatment outcomes of children in government and charity cancer hospitals. You will facilitate counselling sessions between patients and remote nutritionists, with your primary role being to translate and interpret the nutritionist’s advice to patients. Additionally, you’ll work with the hospital staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Nutrition Counseling Coordination:
    • Onboard patients into the FoodHeals program
    • Coordinate and facilitate nutritional counselling via video calls between the tele-nutritionist and the paediatric cancer and haematology patients at the hospital
    • Conduct the child’s nutritional assessment by performing anthropometric measurements and entering the data into the FoodHeals app in a timely manner.
    • Enter the biochemical data obtained from the patient file at the hospital into the FoodHeals app.
    • Explain the diet plan and dietary advice of the (remote) nutritionist to patients and caregivers, and address their concerns and questions.
    • Advocate for patients’ nutritional needs, ensuring their concerns are communicated effectively to nutritionists.
    • Participate in weekly meetings with the nutritionist to review any gaps in the program or patient’s progress
    • Follow our standard processes when interacting with patients and caregivers and in maintaining the nutrition centre where assessments take place
    • Follow up with patients who miss appointments to encourage their return and continuity of care.
    • Collaborate with hospital staff, nutritionists, and the programs team to ensure patient needs with respect to nutrition are met efficiently.
    • Assist with the identification and onboarding of vendors for aid like Supplements, Ration and In-meals.
    • Coordinate with the procurement team in the Cuddles HQ, manage invoices, and maintain accurate aid stock reports.
    • Maintain and keep safe all nutritional and digital equipment provided to you
    • Support annual monitoring and evaluation initiatives at the centre

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a hospital.
  • Fluency in the Hindi, English & local languages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Willing to commit to at least 24 months of work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a team and have a strong work ethic.

Skills:

  • You’re a great listener. As a Cuddles Nurse, a significant part of your work will rely on what children share with you, as well as what they may not express. You have to empathise with what they and their parents are going through.
  • You have a knack for dealing with kids. You are patient and compassionate. You can tell a good story and inspire children to eat right. You don’t talk down to them. You are their advocate and friend.
  • You have a knack for technology. We love tech when it makes your life easy. We solve the malnutrition problem in critical illnesses through our FoodHeals App. You will be using this in your day-to-day work.
  • You’re a stickler for organising things. You have remarkable attention to the slightest detail and meticulous organisational skills. Your closet and drawers are a testament to this skill: when something doesn’t have a place, you make one for it and teach others to keep it that way. You can manage schedules, prioritise your work and follow it with minimum supervision.
  • Collaboration and Communication Skills: You can effectively relay and translate nutritional advice from the nutritionist to patients, while also conveying patients’ information back to the nutritionist. You are good at working with diverse teams (doctors, hospital staff, and remote nutritionists) ensuring smooth communication and patient care.
