Job Summary: The Senior Dietitian is responsible for providing expert nutritional care to patients, overseeing nutritional assessments, developing and implementing individualized meal plans, and providing education and counseling. This role involves leading and mentoring junior dietitians, participating in interdisciplinary patient care teams, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and dietary guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Nutrition:
    • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments of patients, considering medical history, current health status, and dietary needs.
    • Develop and implement personalized meal plans and nutrition interventions based on patient assessments and medical diagnoses.
    • Provide medical nutrition therapy for patients with various medical conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, and gastrointestinal disorders.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust meal plans as needed, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families, promoting healthy eating habits and disease management.
    • Provide specialized nutritional support, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, as required.
  • Leadership and Supervision:
    • Supervise and mentor junior dietitians, providing guidance and support in their clinical practice.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
    • Conduct quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with dietary guidelines and hospital standards.
    • Assist in the planning and delivery of nutrition-related educational programs for staff and patients.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds and meetings.
    • Collaborate with kitchen staff and food service providers to ensure that meals meet patients’ dietary requirements and preferences.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
    • Stay current with the latest research and advancements in the field of nutrition.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification. (Not Mandatory)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical dietitian, preferably in a hospital setting.
