Job Description:
- Patient Care: Handing and taking over patient, drugs, and details report in every shift change.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, carers & attenders.
- Consultant Rounds: Go for rounds with consultants, note down and implement instructions.
- Medication Administration: Administration of oral drugs, intramuscular and intravenous injections as prescribed by the doctors.
- Bedside Nursing Care: Render bed side nursing care for all patients.
- Equipment Maintenance: Taking care of all equipment’s like ventilator, defibrillator, Humidifier, Infusion pump, syringe pump and oxygen flow meter, vacuum suction re functioning properly.
- Coordination: Co-ordinate with administration people regarding admission, discharge of patients and billing activities.
- Patient Assessment: History collection and complete physical examination of patient including height and weight and etc…
- Diagnostic Preparation: Following the admission instruction and preparing the patient for diagnostic investigation like ultrasound, X-ray and lab investigations.
- Patient Education: Educating the patients and their relatives about the nurse call system, visiting hours and hospital policy on admission and discharge procedure
- Fluid and Oxygen Administration: Administer intravenous fluid and oxygen as advised by doctor.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Checking vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration and doing documentation every 4th hourly.
- Surgical Preparation: Preparing the patient for minor and major surgeries with complete pre-operative assessment and check list filled and signed by two witness.
- Reporting and Documentation: Informing the consultants if any changes in the patients and report values immediately and following the instruction given by consultants and documenting in the records.
- Dietary Coordination: Co- ordinate with food services and dietary departments for patient diets.
- Assisting Doctors: Assisting the doctors for bedside procedures and treatment.
- Equipment Checks: Checking the BP apparatus laryngoscope, torch and its working conditions.
- Policy Adherence: Following the hospital policies and rules.
- Mentorship: Teach and co-ordinate with the new nurses.
- General Nursing Care: Giving general nursing care to all the patients.
- Psychological Support: Provide Psychological support to the patient and families.
- Continuing Education: Participating in service nurse education programmes conduct by the hospital.
